Recruiting is a very important part of what we do. A chance to talk to young people about the industry is always helpful.

Each provider recruited 10 local employers to take part in a research interview. Partners were encouraged to involve a range of employers in terms of sector, size and type.  A short briefing paper for employers was developed and adapted by partners to support the recruitment process. Participating employers included Asda, Wales Millennium Centre, Glasgow Rangers Football Club, The Princes Trust and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

On completion of each interview, employers were invited to complete a short feedback form. For a copy of the employer feedback form, click here. Responses revealed a range of positive outcomes for employers, including:

  • Satisfaction in being able to give young people practical advice to help them be more competitive in the job market.
  • Business benefits in telling young people about their industry, company, recruitment processes and the skills they look for and why.
  • Useful feedback and insight from a young person’s perspective.

Young people have the opportunity to see how there are common elements to recruitment and key themes/ skills required.
